When it comes to biological chemistry, Alex Ward is a  genius. His mastery of this scientific field is due to the swelling being applied by a brain tumor.

It has been explained to Alex that his tumor is too delicate to remove surgically. Understanding the dangers presented by the tumor, Alex is trying to develop a potion that grows his body and allow a greater surgery size. So far, he's only able to maintain his new form for a about 30 minutes before his potion is metabolised.
 

​Whilst only a teenager, Alex was awarded a full academic scholarship to Campbell City University. His work is carefully supervised and nurtured by a surrogate father-figure in the employ of the CCU - Prof. Simon Rayne.
His scholarship demands that he serves the community, in the H.I.T. program.
